Welcome to Young-Shannon Gold Mines, Limited (GYS: TSX-V).Latest News: [See all Press Releases]
Young-Shannon Gold Mines, Limited is a Toronto based mineral exploration company with two gold properties in Ontario, Canada and one recent gold property acquisition in Argentina. The company's Chester Property comprises 11 patented and 18 unpatented claims within Chester Township located west of highway 144, midway between Sudbury and Timmins, Ontario. A National Instrument 43-101 compliant qualifying report was written for the property in June, 2002 which identified an indicated mineral resource of 220,000 tons grading 0.354 oz/t gold and an inferred mineral resource of 725,000 tons grading 0.16 oz/t gold on the C-Prime gold deposit. Two additional drilling campaigns on the property, one in 2004 and one in 2005, continued to deepen and expand the C-Prime gold deposit. Also, a geophysical campaign of down hole Induced Polarization (IP) has produced drill ready targets at depth below the known gold mineralization. Young-Shannon has signed a Letter of Intent with a private company for an option to earn in and joint venture the Chester Property. The private company will undertake a strategy to go public and become listed on the TSX Venture Exchange. Young-Shannon will acquire from this new issuer shares having a value of $100,000 as well as 50% of the shares issued each year by the public company on each anniversary date of the agreement. The option to earn in requires that the public company spend a total of $2,250,000 on exploration over the span of four years to earn a 46.25% interest in the Chester Property. Therefore, Young-Shannon shareholders will have the benefits of not only another company spending its money on exploration on the property and thereby avoiding share dilution of Young-Shannon shares through additional financings, but shareholders of Young-Shannon will have a direct investment in a new public company. Young-Shannon's McMillan Mine Property comprises 670 hectares and is located just south of the town of Espanola, Ontario in McKinnon and Mongowin townships. The company has the right to earn a 60% interest in the property from MBMI Resources Inc. Young-Shannon continues to expand the gold zone on its McMillan Gold Mine property. As noted in the Company's news release of March 1, 2007, the high grade gold zone on the property now has a strike length of at least 550 ft. (168 m) which remains open in all directions. The Company is especially interested in a strong geophysical response target which extends eastward at depth from the known gold mineralization. Also, for the first time in Young-Shannon's history it has expanded into an offshore environment. The company has recently acquired the right to earn a 70% interest in the 'M-18' gold / silver property in Argentina (please refer to Young-Shannon's news release of June 7, 2007). Geological mapping and surface sampling by Young-Shannon has confirmed the very impressive gold values identified by the optionor, Silver Standard Resources Inc. The gold zone is exposed on surface for an approximate length of 1.2 km. and width of 0.5 km, before becoming covered in alluvium. The system remains open in all directions at this time. The M-18 property comprises an area of 63 sq. km. and has never been drill tested or undergone any systematic property scale exploration. The zone of known gold mineralization makes up only a small portion of the property, so there remains tremendous potential for more mineralization. Young-Shannon is planning an aggressive exploration program on the property in the near future commencing on the known gold zone and ultimately expanding into the surrounding terrain where extensive rock alteration is known to exist. Young-Shannon is actively pursuing lucrative mineral properties globally to increase shareholder value. The company has 53,803,828 common shares outstanding and 65,698,828 shares on a fully diluted basis and is listed on the TSX Venture Exchange under the symbol GYS.
